I walk alone upon the path
In deep discussion that makes me laugh
here I am a social being
talking to myself without seeing
a single soul from week to week
and no desire with which to seek
companionship or another’s humour
tall tales or disrespectful rumour
I know myself I can rely on me
I can be the person I want to be
I can see the things I want to see
and if need be I can more easily flee
alone
Sean, your final “alone” makes me wonder how often my own solitude is both a home and an escape.
Much love,
David

Quite possibly both. Solitude can be both a precious time and an escape (even if we don’t know from what).

Would you mind if I share this poem as a ‘reblog’ at some point in the future?

You are most welcome. From such an enterprising and multi talented writer I take your question as a great compliment.

Sean, your poem brings Paul Simon’s song, I Am a Rock, to mind. I do hope you have a chance to interact with others from time to time?

My wife and I have big families and good friends. So, despite my reclusive tendencies I can’t escape interaction.
