Time for more submissions?

I haven’t been in the habit of submitting my writing to be published elsewhere. However, I was recently introduced to https://spillwords.com and thought the site looked like a good place to start. Happily, the editorial team chose to give me some space https://spillwords.com/author/seanmathews/ for my recent poem ‘two cups of tea.’ I am thankful for their encouragement. Maybe it is time to try more submissions.

    • Thank you so much Robbie. I recently discovered you have two web sites. I don’t know how you keep up with it all. Must be driven by the creativeness constantly bursting out of you.

      • Hi Sean, yes, I do have two blogs and a separate website for my art and books. I do enjoy blogging and interacting with this wonderful community. I split my adult and children’s writing initially and its blurred a bit now but I have different followers on the two blogs so I’ve just stayed with it.

  1. she was largely a teacup without a storm
still, she spoke out and fronted for the fight….

Sean, this was a beautiful poem about a truly special relationship with your great aunt. I enjoy spending time with the elderly, partly because im always down for a good story or a laugh, and they have much to tell. But mostly because I know I dont have them around for much longer. I dont like how many of the elderly seem to be “shifted” to the margins as though they are irrelevant. My mum is 92 this yr, and she is still the life blood of the clan, a lot more quiet now, but still very observant and supportive. And I enjoy her presence when I am home. If she would only sit still for a while, Lol.
    Beautiful writing, Mr. Matthew.

    • Thank you for sharing your experience with your mum. I am very happy for you that she is still around and active. My wife and I have both lost nonagenarian parents recently. We have both been fortunate to have had key roles in their care as they have aged. This poem is about those times sharing with their generation and the way our extended families have collectively been so supportive.

      • So sorry to hear that, mate.
I too come from.an extended family, 70 odd members. So we rally for the elders, and do our best to keep them involved.
